Shepard was this nation’s first flight in space. It is the first flight for Young.” I don’t think it is pointed out enough that Gus Grissom was the FIRST HUMAN BEING IN HISTORY to fly in space twice. People talk about how he was a Mercury astronaut, they talk about how he died, they talk about how he could have walked on the moon, but they don’t really mention that unique historical distinction of his.
